NEW BIKE!

Well, I finally got my new bike!  Thanks to Roger and all of his hard work, my bike came together great.  (By the way, happy b-day Roger!)  I really like the way it rides so far.  It should be a nice ride.  I have been up in the valley the past week hanging out.  I had planned on skiing, but ended up catching a cold so I spent most of the time inside....oh well.  Im heading back to Florida this Friday, so I'll keep you posted on how everything goes.  Where are the Riddles?  I wish i could post cool photos like them.

Sunny days

It been pretty nice here lately.  I have had a nice rest week filled with running, easy rides and taking care of errands and such.  Not to bad, pretty laid back.  Looks like i'll be heading up to WV next week.  I am going to visit my grandad who is in the hospital and not doing to well.  Its an unfortunate reason to go home, but it will be a good trip.  I plan to make the best of it, maybe sneak down to the valley for a day of skiing or something.  My friend Jerry is making the trip up with me so the car drive isn't so boring.  I finally got my car back from the shop.  The guy that rear-ended it did a pretty good job wreaking it.  After 4 weeks and and $5,000 it is finally done.  Im excited to get it back and it seems to drive good, so im not worried.

Well, maybe i'll see ya around town!  Keep it real.  Wonder were the riddles are...and nick...that kid, who knows where he is.

rain, rain, go away...

Well, it has been pretty rainy here lately...  In fact it rained so hard today it was almost impossible to see out the windows of the house, good thing today was a scheduled rest day.  I ran some errands with Jerry getting some supplies for work and checking out some of the boats on the river for race week.  These people bring in these huge boats, like 150 ft long, just to party on for the Daytona 500... Its crazy.  I finally spoke to Nick today, seems my super secret subliminal messages have been working.  Oh!  Looks like I might be getting my mtn. bike by the end of the month!  Yea!  Thats all for now, I know nothing exciting...sorry.  Maybe the Riddles did something exciting this week?

Yet another day in Paradise...

I really can't complain about the weather here....It has been absolutly spectacular!!!  Temps have been in the mid 60's through the mid 70's...perfect ridding weather if you ask me.  My friends Jeremy and Auvid came to visit on the 1st and just left this afternoon.  They had a great vacation while they were here.  Jeremy and I got in some really good rides and Auvid got in some good yoga practice.

I have been working a lot lately with another cycling partner down here.  He cleans grease exhaust systems in kitchens.  It is pretty fun work and it is all mostly at night so it dosen't cut into the training too much at all.  Its nice to work with other cyclist because they have a pretty good sense of humor overall out look on things...at least I think so.

My new bike finally arrived to the bike shop at home.  I am pretty excited about getting to ride it.  Roger from Blackwater Bikes in Davis, WV has been taking great care of me and is working hard to get it all put together...along with my other 7 team mates bikes.  He is a great guy and does so much for me and the rest of the guys on the team... I know we couldn't do it without him!!! Thanks Roger!!!

I haven't heard from Nick recently.  I know he was in Clemson last week, but I have no idea what he is up to now.  Maybe he will read this and give me a call.  He might be enjoying all that snow that is in the valley.  The skiing conditions look like they are awsome! (www.whitegrass.com)  I wish I was there to ski some... maybe this calls for a weekend ski trip home...who knows.

Well, I have to go make another pot of coffee and get back to some paper work.  Ya'll keep it real!  I wonder what adventures the Riddellettes got into this weekend?

Its a TWISTER!!!

Things have been pretty crazy around here lately. A couple of Tornados hit last night about 8 miles away from my house...pretty scary. That was the second tornado in just over a months time. This weather sure is nuts. Other than that, the ridding has been pretty nice. I got out on the bike today for a nice lesurly spin around the town. Its about 75 out now and mostly sunny, so i might manage to get in some beach time too, who knows. My friends Jeremy and Auvid are on their way down to spend a few weeks in the sun.

Speaking of sun, seems like the groundhog is saying its going to be an early spring which is good for everyone at home. Im not sure about this whole groundhog thing though. I read somewhere that he is only about 20% correct on his predictions. Hopefully he will be right this time though! Thats about all I have for now. Hopefully everyone is taking advantage of the snow and getting in some good time on the skis. I wonder what the Riddles are doing right now???

ZOOM ZOOM

Racing is in the air here in Florida.  No, not bicycle racing, car racing.  This weekend was the start of Speed Weeks here in Daytona.  For you NASCAR fans that means the Daytona 500 is quickly approaching.  For us cyclist it just means more people driving around on the roads.  I went to the 24 hour Rolex race this past weekend at the speed way.  Its basically a 24 hour grand prix style race.  It was really fun to watch those cars fly around the track...I even got to see some pretty amazing crashes.

I have still been getting in some really good rides.  The weather here hasn't been to great.  Its been pretty cold for the area.  It was 28 degrees last night and only got up to 50 today...i know, thats still pretty warm.  I have a big ride scheduled for tommorow, so hopefully the weather will be nice to me. Smile

I wonder what the Riddlettes are doing???  They never seem to update their blog anymore...

Long Slow Distance

I know it has been awhile since my last update....sorry.  I have been really busy taking care of some pre-season stuff and getting other things squared away.  Well, everything is going really well.   I have been ridding a ton, close to 17 hours a week now.  I guess I should also say that I am in Florida for the winter for those of you that didn't know.  I has been a long couple of semesters at school and I needed a break, so I came down here to beautiful Daytona Beach Florida to get in some quality pre-season miles.  I have a few friends down here that race for various pro level road teams, so there is always someone fast to ride with.

I have been mountain biking on Saturdays.  There is actually a great mountain bike park that isn't to far away.  Usually a group of us ride from my casa to the park and do a few laps and head back home.  It is about 80 miles round trip, so not a bad work out.  Sunday offers a great group road ride.  I have to leave the house by 6:30am to make it which is kind of a bummer, but oh well.  There are a lot of really fast riders there including some guy who has won the Race Across America like 6 times.  I forget his name, but he can really ride a bike.  That ride is usually upwards of 90 miles.

Not much else is new.  I have some pretty awsome tan lines goin' on...so take that Riddlemiesters!  Some of the people down here think i mow grass all day because of those tan lines.

Oh, another bit of news.  While i have been down here my car did manage to get rear-ended by someone at 30mph, so thats a big bummer.  It is supposed to be getting fixed next week sometime, so hopefully i won't have to be carless much longer.  Anyways, thats about all for now.  I'll be updating this thing more often i hope.  I also will be trying to post some cool pics, but haven't fiqured out how yet....Joey?

Wonder what Mr. Mrs. Riddle are doing right now???

Whats new?

Its been a while since my last posting...  Lots of new stuff happening, almost too much to list.  Well, not really.  I haven't been doing too much lately except some other off-season activities that I don't get to indulge in like, hikes, swimming, running, ridding without a specific workout to accomplish and catching up with friends.  I have been going to the Valley the past couple of weekends trying to get out of Morgantown and enjoy that last few days of beautiful ridding weather in Canann.   I am not too sure where Mr. Waite has been... I think he is becoming a traitor and moving to VA... yeah... pretty lame I know...

Still working on team stuff for next year, but I think its safe to say that I'll be ridding a hard tail 29".  I am super excited... I really love the way hardtails ride, and I really like 29", so I think its going to be a good move.  I think thats about all for now...  Have a great Thanksgiving!!!  I wonder how the riddles are?

Race Report: September 16th JMU

Harrisonburg VA is one of my most favorite places to race.  It has some extremley fun trails with lots of sweet single track and fun downhills.  We drove down friday night and camped at the venue.  Saturday morning was pretty relaxing because the race didn't start untill 11am.  After a hearty breakfast at the Waffle House, it was time to suit up.  I got in a decent warm-up, but still felt flat at the begining of the race.  I had hoped that this flatness would go away, but after several minutes into the race, I realized that I was just having "one of those days".  I continued truckin' through my first lap in 3rd place.  Part way through my second lap, my middle chain ring snapped off and that was that for me.  I limped back to the venue to cheer on the rest of my teamates...hey sometimes your the windsheild and sometimes your the bug...I was the bug... better luck next time eh???  Wonder what the Riddlemiester is up to???
